Connecting the Dots in Your Student Loan Strategy as we Transition Away From the SAVE Plan
With the official elimination of the SAVE plan, the student loan landscape has undergone a seismic shift. As we navigate the transition from the SAVE plan toward new options, inaction is not always the best strategy. Eventually, you will need to choose a new repayment plan—or the Department of Education and your loan servicer will choose one for you.
At NewBeginnings, we know that moving to a different repayment plan option, under the recent legislative changes, isn't just about checking a box. It’s about connecting the dots of your overarching financial life and your student loan amounts and types to create a tailored strategy.
And, we're a little like a broken record lately on this, but you don't need more information, you need help navigating the information to find the best solution for your unique student loan repayment.
The Danger of a "One-Size-Fits-All" Approach
What most students are handed by servicers and the government are a one-size-fits-all approach. Which is understandable giving the sheer numbers of students that these organizations work with. But, what's lacking in this assembly line type system is any sort of strategy, intentional plan or personalized service. Student loan servicers operate massive call centers designed for high-volume, generic processing. Because of this, they offer one-size-fits-all solutions.
Your life isn't one-size-fits-all.
When major legislation drops—such as the recent "One Big Beautiful Bill," which streamlines and heavily caps Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) and Fixed Repayment plans—many borrowers try to go it alone or allow their servicers dictate their next move. This often leads to missed forgiveness opportunities, unnecessarily high monthly payments, or a repayment timeline that directly conflicts with your actual life goals.
Relying on an automated system to pick your plan means ignoring the nuances of your household income, tax filing status, career trajectory, and future milestones.

The NewBeginnings Difference: Tailored, Individualized Strategies
Here at NewBeginnings, we take a fundamentally different approach. We are a nationwide student loan advocacy organization focused exclusively on creating individualized repayment strategies tailored to your unique loan profile and life goals.
When we create your Individualized Student Loan Assessment (ISLA), we don’t just look at the numbers. We look at you. We invest in your story, your career, and your family. Are you planning for marriage, buying a home, growing your family, or approaching retirement? Your student loan strategy should seamlessly integrate with these milestones, not hinder them.
We perform comprehensive reviews—by offering our Individualized Student Loan Assessments (ISLAs)—a one-on-one review of your specific situation. With the SAVE plan no longer an option, we walk you through what that actually means for your loans and what alternative repayment plans you may want to consider instead. We also check your PSLF eligibility against what you've actually been told, and identify where the assumptions you're working from may be outdated or just plain wrong. Rather than handing you generic advice, we walk through your actual loan history and paperwork with you, so you understand where you stand and what your real options are as the rules around student loans keep shifting. We also host live Q&A sessions to help you stay current as things change
Below, we're answering a few frequently asked questions about transitioning out of the SAVE Plan.
Because, as we said earlier, you don't need more information, you need hand-picked, relevant information that connects the dots for your financial future.

Frequently Asked Questions About Transitioning from the SAVE Plan
To help you better understand this transition and how NewBeginnings can advocate for you, here are answers to some of the most common questions we are receiving:
Can I stay in the SAVE plan forever if I am an existing student loan borrower?
No. The SAVE plan was officially eliminated and loan servicers began sending notices to clients on July 1st with their 90-day deadline to switch to a new repayment plan.
When the SAVE plan is eliminated, what repayment plan choices do I have?
With the elimination of the SAVE Plan, borrowers are required to transition to a new federal repayment plan within 90 days of receiving notice from their loan servicer. If you do not choose a plan within that window, your servicer will automatically place you in a standard fixed-payment or the new tiered standard plan. Note: This is NOT income driven repayment.
You can find updates and different loan scenarios at studentaid.gov.
If I can do this for free by calling my servicer, what makes you different as a student loan advocate?
As a student loan advocate, we are completely different than calling the free offering of your loan servicer. NewBeginnings is invested in your story, your goals, your career, and your family. We have walked through marriages, home ownership, career advancements, family growth, and retirement with our clients. We sit beside you to figure out the best path forward. We provide you with a strategy that you can implement yourself or we can stay alongside you until your loans are at $0.
You don't receive invested time and genuine concern from a call center. We are committed to staying on top of legislative changes, providing the most up-to-date information, quarterly pivots & check ins, and monthly payment recalculations.
I'm scared to add more fees on top of high student loan debt. What's the cost of the Initial Strategic Call?
